COVID-19 SITUATION REPORT: SENATOR STELLA ADAEZE ODUAH’S ONGOING DISTRIBUTION OF 30,000 bags of rice, 60,000 tubers of yam and 25,000 cartons of noodles on 11th May, 2020

The first action Senator Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah undertook when the Covid-19 lockdown situation brought about untold hardship in the lives of poor members of her constituency was to convene a series of emergency online meetings to essentially look into the smartest and most effective ways of reaching them with a view to ameliorating their plight.
The meetings spent time brainstorming and eventually agreed to use the churches to reach the poorest of the poor within the 7 LGA's of Anambra North.
It was agreed that leaders of the three major denominations (Catholic, Anglican and Pentecostal ) would send in a specified list containing names of their poorest members and that at least 15 of those names must be widows!
The meetings also agreed that beyond the church route, there was a great need to also accommodate other pivotal groups like her Community Excos/Directors, Motherless babies homes, PDP wards and the various communities in all the 7 LGA'S and so a detailed schedule with specific dates and timelines was drawn up to delineate the days the aforementioned denominations and groups would receive their palliative items.
And so from Tuesday 5th of May to Friday 8th of May, ALL Catholic parishes in ALL the 7 Local Government Areas in Anambra North converged in the below stated venues to collect items meant for their poorest members.
Day 1.
Date: Tuesday 5/05/20
LGA'S: Anambra East & Anambra West.
Venue: St Joseph Catholic Church, Aguleri.
Day 2
Date: Wednesday 6/05/20
LGA: Ogbaru
Venue: St Gregory De Great Parish Iyiowa Odekpe.
Day 3
Date: Thursday 7/05/20
LGA: Onitsha North & Onitsha South
Venue: St Stephens Parish, Federal Housing Estate, Onitsha.
DAY 4
Fri. 8/5/20
IGBARIAM ( Oyi and Ayamelum)
Venue: St. Raphael's Parish Awkuzu.
As it stands, DISTRIBUTION OF PALLIATIVE ITEMS HAVE ALREADY COMMENCED IN ALL LGA'S as can be seen from this report.
The next phase which shall commence on Wednesday May 13th is the distribution of same food items to THE POOREST MEMBERS OF ALL ANGLICAN CHURCHES WITHIN THE 7 LGA'S and this process shall be replicated until ALL DENOMINATIONS & IDENTIFIED GROUPS HAVE BEEN ATTENDED TO!
This means that a lot of patience must necessarily have to be exercised by all and sundry to enable the team continue it's work of touching lives.
PLEASE NOTE that churches have already been mandated to send in their list of indigent beneficiaries and they are the only persons in that category we can possibly attend to as it is practically impossible to accommodate everyone.
A total of 30,000 bags of rice, 60,000 tubers of yam and 25,000 cartons of noodles have been procured for this exercise and it should also be noted that she earlier distributed 45,000 Facemasks and hand gloves in the first phase of this exercise.
The Distinguished Senator does not Imagine that these items would solve all their problems but she hopes and prays that they at least serve as a cushion against the hardship brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finally, the committee has not been disbanded and are still meeting and reviewing the situation with a view to proffering more solutions that are guaranteed to ameliorate the plight of the good people of Anambra North senatorial district.
Signed.
